Check in to make sure your contact information is up to date to receive important notices on any changes to your health insurance. Starting July 1, 2023, CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield Community Health Plan Maryland (CareFirst CHPMD) will offer pregnancy and postpartum coverage for non-US Citizens. Learn more here.

Medicaid enrollment is always open!

There is no deadline to apply for Medicaid and if you are already enrolled, you may choose CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield Community Health Plan Maryland (CareFirst CHPMD). Call Maryland Health Connection at 855-642-8572 or go to MarylandHealthConnection.gov.

You can enroll in an MCO and choose a primary care provider (PCP) through the Maryland Health Connection. You have three ways to apply:

  1. Online at marylandhealthconnection.gov
  2. With the Maryland Health Connection mobile app
  3. Call 855-642-8572 (TTY: 855-642-8573)

You will be able to choose your MCO as one of the steps in the process.

Pregnancy and Postpartum Coverage for Non-US Citizens – Effective July 1, 2023

CareFirst CHPMD will offer pregnancy and postpartum coverage for the following:

  • Non-citizen pregnant women and their children up to age of 1 year
  • Additional coverage for four months postpartum
  • One year of coverage for the child

CareFirst CHPMD will pay for:

  • Doctor Visits
  • Hospital Care
  • Prescription Drugs
  • Mental Health Care
  • Behavioral Health Care
  • Transportation Services rides to and from medical care
  • Lab Work and Tests

Unpaid Medical Bills Before CareFirst CHPMD Coverage

CareFirst CHPMD may help pay for health care you had in the three months before you applied. To learn more, talk to Maryland Health Connection, or go to your local Health Department.

Starting July 1, 2023, you can apply:

  • Online at marylandhealthconnection.gov
  • By calling 1-855-642-8572
  • TTY users call 711 for Maryland Relay
  • In person at a local Health Department
  • In person at a Human Services Office
  • By using the Maryland Health Connection App
