Change Healthcare Notice

CareFirst Community Health Plan Maryland is making it easier for members to continue to receive care during this healthcare pandemic.  Members can schedule a telemedicine visit with their PCP from the safety of their home.  A telemedicine visit involves the use of a smart phone or laptop that allows members to talk to their provider and receive valuable screening and health education with the least amount of risk to you of exposure to coronavirus.

Everyone should see their doctor once a year and CareFirst Community Health Plan Maryland (CareFirst CHPMD) is here to help you schedule an appointment today!  If you aren’t sure who your doctor is, CareFirst CHPMD’s friendly Member Services Representatives will help you connect with a doctor and schedule a check-up appointment within 30 days. Wellness Check-Ups are Vital
Even if you are feeling healthy you should see your doctor at least once a year for a wellness check-up.  During a wellness check-up, your doctor can find problems early or even before they start.  By getting the right screenings and treatments you can ensure a longer, healthier life.  Use your check-up to have a conversation with your doctor about your family medical history and your health habits.  Your doctor will help you identify any health risks you have and develop a plan to keep you healthy.

Some important screenings and treatments offered during a check-up include:

  • Blood Pressure Check
  • Blood Sugar (HbA1c) Test
  • Cholesterol Test
  • Immunizations (Yes, adults need them too!)
  • Oral Health Exam
  • HIV/AIDs and other sexually transmitted infections tests
  • Cancer Screenings
    • Colorectal Cancer
    • Skin Cancer
    • Breast Cancer (Women)
    • Cervical Cancer (Women)
    • Prostate Cancer (Men)
  • Weight and nutrition counseling

A quick 15-minute check-up today could prevent future chronic diseases saving you time and money for the things that matter to you.
